About Us

Background:

The Rejuvenation Community Trust was founded by Sasol Chemical Industries in 2001 as part of a skills development and retention strategy. The success of this project led to the establishment of an independent Rejuvenation Community Trust in 2007. The Trust is founded on the principles of public partnerships and its stakeholders are the community, business, and the local government.

The Trust has implemented more than a hundred-million-rand worth of projects over a period of more than ten years. We proud ourselves in serving communities through partnerships with business, Corporate and Government. We offer companies the opportunity to partner with us as Implementing agent to execute community projects for CSI or other BEE purposes.

We offer companies the opportunity to work in any community, using local contractors and local labour. In order to ensure quality, we support local contractors with projects from start to finish no matter what. Our strategic focus areas environment, education, safety & security, sport & recreation, enterprise development and health & welfare.

We believe in an open and transparent working relationship and therefore our accounting is run independently through an auditing firm, with company funding ring-fenced for specific projects. All payments are done in accordance with the contract, scope of work, payment certificates and mandated signature.

Our services are affordable and unique due to our organisational design, and we also offer companies an 18A Tax deductible certificate on funding paid to us. We have a level 1 B-BBEE rating calculated on the number of black beneficiaries from community and donor specific projects.

Vision:

To make a collaborative impact through strategic partnerships to benefit the

community, business and local government, where dreams overflows into prosperity.

Objectives:

To become the leading implementation partner to major companies in South-Africa with the intention to generate enough income to enable the Rejuvenation Community Trust to increase the number of community upliftment projects and make an ongoing impact.

Rejuvenation Community Projects

The Rejuvenation Community Trust have identified a variety of programmes and projects within specific focus areas to be on their wish list depending on funding available.

The projects chosen must make a big impact in the community and projects must align with the objectives as per the Trust Deed. The Trust will not look at Ad-hog proposals but will support as many of its strategic selected projects as possible. Donors have the opportunity to partner with the Trust on specific projects or with one of our selected projects or programmes that might need funding

Government Partnership Projects

To offer Local authorities the opportunity to partner with the Rejuvenation Trust to implement and execute projects and services to the public where there is a shortage of resources, capacity or skill. The objective is not to act in the capacity of a contractor or service provider but to be an implementing agent/partner. This means that we will work with municipalities on strategic and execution plans.

We offer a set of skills and resources to support with maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure, equipment and other related services. The execution will be linked to Municipal budget and the spenditure would be against such budgets.

Service Offering:

Parks, Sport & Recreation

Infrastructure development such as sport & recreation facilities, upgrading of clubhouses, pavilions, offices, building of community parks, etc.

Facility Management & Maintenance

Day to day management & operational plan as well as support to sport & recreation facilities such as: Stadiums, Swimming pools, Multipurpose Centres, Show Grounds, etc.

Infrastructure

Any infrastructure repairs and upgrading such as clinics, municipal buildings, etc. This also means that the Rejuvenation Trust could support the Municipality with the full execution of infrastructure projects including: the tender process, sourcing and appointment of credited contractors and or service providers as well as the full project management.

Turn-Key/Donor Specific Projects

Apart from the local focus area, Rejuvenation also has a donor specific leg where donors have the opportunity to partner with Rejuvenation and implement a specific project in a specific focus area. It is the donor’s decision how they want to manage these projects. Donor specific projects are funded and managed separately from the other projects, except if the focus areas are directly involved, or if the sector plays a strategic or managerial role. The service offers big companies the opportunity to use the Rejuvenation Trust to project manage/implement their Corporate Social Responsibility as well as for BEE projects.

The Trust offers a solution to companies that is looking for an alternative financial method of project implementation through a robust governance system managed by a registered Professional Accounting/Auditing firm. The Company’s money will be secure and ring-fenced to the specific project they wish to embark on and a contract between the Rejuvenation Trust and the company will create the conditions in which the project will be implemented. We also manage relationships to maintain synergy between all stakeholders and ensure sustainability of projects

Service Offering – Partnership/Donor Specific Projects

  • Donor specific projects are projects identified by the donor, and there are no geographical boundaries nor are there financial calendar restrictions.
  • A donor would be able to “Ring fence” their money towards specific projects or programmes and implement these projects on an ad-hoc basis as and when they are approved.
  • Projects could be implemented by the donor, or in conjunction with one of project managers of Rejuvenation.
  • Donors will also have the opportunity to “Micro Manage “their projects through the Rejuvenation Trust. In the normal corporate financial system, it is almost impossible for donors to do this and there is a huge risk for companies to pay a lump sum over to beneficiaries losing all control of the projects or programmes.
  • The benefit to donors is that projects can be implemented fast, effective and without delays. The Donor would never be in embarrassing position again and the reputational risk of late payments as well as mismanagement of funds by beneficiaries would be eliminated.

Process – Relevant to all Projects

Facilitate the development of a clear project scope based on the client’s requirements, and accordingly manage the agreed scope of work and projects are managed in line with an agreed project plan.

Recruit the necessary and appropriate project staff and consultants, including a clear definition of their roles, responsibilities and liabilities

  • Establish in conjunction with the client; consultants, and all relevant authorities of-site characteristics, necessary for the proper design and approval of the intended project.
  • Prepare and co-ordinate a detailed project plan and management of the integration of the preliminary design to form the basis for the initial viability assessment.
  • After approval of projects we commence with detailed planning and engineering.
  • This include development of a Project Management schedule, estimated cash flow forecast and RFQ/Tender process.
  • Upon appointment of a Service Provider, we conduct a project kick-off meeting in order to establish the execution requirements, i.e. construction schedule, contractor’s estimated cash flow, resource allocation requirements, Potential Deviation Analysis, review and approval of project specific safety documentation
  • During execution we conduct regular (intervals based on project requirement)
    • Progress meetings, continuously inspect the site, provide technical support, value engineering for cost optimization, ensure that the works are executed safely, quality of workmanship and material comply with the project specifications, monitor resource allocation to insure project milestones are timeously achieved and the overall project schedule is on track.
    • Project closeout documentation, sign of project and final commissioning.
